Weekly Tutoring  Volunteers

Volunteering tutors will help students Pre-K to 8th grade improve their reading and math skills in a small group session.  Tutors will present lessons according to a curriculum provided by the program director and for some session be assigned to assist with homework provided by the student from their school. Tutors will be able to effectively provide support and instruction to help students gain and demonstrate an improved level of understanding the assigned topics.

Duties, Responsibilities & Qualifications:

- Facilitate small group sessions for students in Pre-K to 8th grade.​

- Deliver lessons in adherence to the prescribed curriculum.

- Aid students with homework during designated sessions.

- ​Provide adept support and instruction.

- Guide students in demonstrating enhanced comprehension of assigned topics.

- Possess a proficient command of reading and math subjects.

- Demonstrate prior tutoring or teaching experience or a willingness to learn.

- Hold a minimum of a high school diploma preferred, but proof of passing the grade level the tutor desires to work with is accepted with special permission.

- Exhibit familiarity with elementary and middle school curriculum.

- Showcase strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Display patience and empathy for diverse learning needs.

- Ability to effectively implement provided curriculum.

Service Learning Hours

With permission from their academic institute, volunteers may use this program as an opportunity to earn service learning hours. High school students must also provide written permission from their parent/guardian.

Session 1: 4:30-6PM (Mon, Wed, Fri) or Session 2: 6-7:30PM (Mon, Wed)

Start Date: February 5, 2024

End Date: June 7, 2024
